Ian Pollack

Assistant Music Director

Ian is a lifelong musician, writer, and educator, whose journey has taken him from his hometown, Ann Arbor, Michigan, to New Jersey with many stops along the way. After fronting rock bands, performing as a solo act, and helping to develop the youth music scene in Ann Arbor as a high schooler, he moved on to Berklee College of Music where he studied songwriting and continued singing, writing, and playing guitar for performing bands.

Most recently, Ian was songwriting professionally in Los Angeles, where he signed a publishing deal and co-wrote lead singles for the likes of Teddy Swims, LANY, and Bryce Vine, as well as album cuts for a variety of other artists. Specializing in song concepts, melodic vocal composition, and story-driven lyric writing, Ian has regularly worked with several major label artists and world-class, chart-topping producers.

Prior to his return to the music industry, Ian pursued a handful of passions. He graduated from the University of Michigan with a degree in Japanese Literature and has written his own prose and fiction, which has been nominated for a PEN America award and the Pushcart Prize. Additionally, having obtained a master’s degree in education, Ian taught pre-K and elementary-aged kids for almost a decade in Washington, DC, and Brooklyn, NY. As an educator, Ian quickly became a school leader. With a focus on the social-emotional domain of childhood learning, he installed new curricula and programming school wide, coached teachers, and partnered with hundreds of families to ensure his kiddos built a foundation to thrive.

Upon his return to the east coast, Ian knew right away that Lakehouse Music Academy was the place where he could put it all together. Here, he’s excited and honored to grow with the amazing Lakehouse community.
