Téa Murphy

VOCALS | PIANO

Téa Murphy is a piano and voice instructor at Lakehouse Music Academy. She trained in classical piano under the Suzuki method from age 3, gaining an extensive music education in piano performance and theory. She then went on to train in voice, specializing in jazz, pop, and musical theater, taking private lessons for over 10 years and performing in local shows and bands.

In college, she studied Music Production, where she learned how to write, record and produce her own original music, and gained experience in composing and collaborating with other musicians. She studied at Occidental College in Los Angeles under notable musicians like Julia Holter, Ramona Gonzalez (aka Nite Jewel), and Adam Schoenberg. She's written and released multiple original songs, and has worked with other artists as a vocalist and producer.

She's now made her way back to Asbury Park, having grown up between the shore and New York City. She is excited to share her skills and experience with students of all ages, and help them find their musical and individual voice. She believes a musical education benefits any and everyone, and teaches us much more than how to just read and play notes. She hopes to impart a sense of self-confidence and competence to her students, teaching them skills that will help them succeed in any industry. For Téa, finding a unique and strong voice has helped her in all areas of her life, and she cares deeply about sharing that meaningful skill with others.
