Dan Sakumoto

DRUMS

Dan Sakumoto is a multi-instrumentalist with a focus on drums, guitar and bass. While performing, touring and managing multiple bands across styles from indie/emo to pop-punk to metal, Dan is also a venue stage manager and recording engineer, continuing to hone his audio craftsmanship and production skills.

During his time at Ramapo College, Dan served as Music Chair and Event Manager, executing bi-weekly alternative concerts each year. There, he procured all talent by working with booking agents, negotiating contracts and overseeing the creation and distribution of all marketing materials and promotion including grassroots marketing efforts.

Dan has worked with artists such as Smallpools, Vasudeva, Microwave, Dowsing, Cayetana, Oso Oso, Petal, Slingshot Dakota, Half Waif, The Sidekicks, Adult Mom, and Slaughter Beach Dog. He graduated with a B.A. in Music with concentrations in music industry and production.

Dan currently plays in the bands Save Face, Have a Good Season, JAWDUST and Nightmaps. He has been professionally touring around the U.S., Canada and the UK for the past several years, ranging from weekenders and festival performances to a two-month tour with The Wonder Years. While being each band’s full-time musician, he also has experience in day-to-day tour management, backline load-in and strike logistics, travel/lodging coordination, marketing, merchandising and promotion. Dan has performed and/or toured with artists such as Motion City Soundtrack, The Starting Line, The Bouncing Souls, Joyce Manor, Mom Jeans, Origami Angel, Spanish Love Songs, Bayside, Pinkshift, Four Year Strong, Microwave, State Champs, Creeper and Midtown.

Having extensive touring, performing, production, managing and tech experience, Dan offers a unique and wide range in perspective pertaining to the practicing and working musician, striving to improve his craft on his instruments, passing along to passionate students.
